Ino Shukuho Handmade Vintage Japanese Rare Red Glazed Rectangle Bonsai Pot Maple
Old second generation Ino Shukuh pot by Ino Kiichir. The Higashiyama Ward, Kyto potter was famous from a very early age and from the Taish era until 1942, worked as a kunai-ch ytashi or Imperial Household Agency purveyor. The following year, in 1943, he was designated as a jiki gijutsu-hozon sakka or porcelain ceramic technique preservation craftsman. Ino was selected eight times for public shows and arts & crafts exhibitions in Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City. His focus was on Kiyomizu style painted porcelain functional domestic articles. His bonsai pots were made after WWII at the encouragement of Kawai Ks-en and Fuy-en nurseries. This is an excellent tedzukuri or fully handmade, slab-built rectangle with soft corners. Lovely shinshay cinnabar glaze with a satin matte finish and a very subtle craquelure. For a kiln that specialized in blue and green containers, and painted works, this is a very rare piece. Now an then youll see an azuki red bean glaze from the Ino kiln, but this is even rarer. Very thick and heavy compared to the third generation works, which are thin and light. Also a totally different clay body than the akwase clay of the third generation.
A very special pot indeed. 7.5 x 5.25 x 1.9 inches (19.1 x 13.2 x 4.8 cm). A few decades old and used but in great condition.
