This is a late Taisho antique c. (sewing box) with a unique arrangement of five drawers and an additional removable 6th drawer with 3 part section under the lidded top (see pictures 6 & 7). There is a hidden 7th drawer behind the tray in the lid. This haribako has a unique negoro lacquer finish. This finish is accomplished by layering several coats of black lacquer and then several coats of red and then rubbing through the red in various areas to produce this unique effect.
This chest has been well used yet well loved, with the exception of a few very minor signs of past use, it remains in. All drawers run smoothly and the top lidded section swings open and closed with ease. Please enjoy viewing the enlarged photos of this chest.
This chest measures 12 3/4" wide by 7 3/4" deep and 10 1/4 high (32.5 x 19.5 x 26 cm). You'll love it, I guarantee it......... And the Shogun's Gallery have been in the Japanese antique business for over 36 years, and highly value our customers.
