Japanese Vintage Silk Wedding Kimono "Uchikake" Robe, Red, Gold and White. Vintage/Antique Japanese wedding kimonos, Uchikake, are some of the most elaborate kimonos you can find.
This is a gorgeous vintage Japanese wedding kimono. The beautiful red color silk is intricately embroidered with a beautiful depiction of gold cranes in flight, a very traditional wedding image.
The crane is considered a symbol of longevity. Among the birds, it is said to be a "happy bird" because it is a long-lived bird. Therefore, it is suitable for praying and celebrating longevity. The Uchikake is in great condition with all of the threading intact and would make an excellent display piece. Since this is a vintage item there are a few stains in the white area as noted in the pictures.
The white cloth at the hem is for protection against dirt and can be removed. (A) mitake (length from collar to hem): 186cm / 73.22 inch. (B) yuki (length between the center seam and the sleeve): 64cm / 25.19inch. (C) sodehaba (width of sleeve): 34cm / 13.38inch. (D) sodetake (length of sleeve): 102cm / 40.15inch.
